Add users to a private site without them registering?

    Is it possible to add users by their email address (just a few not hundreds) to a private site without having to register on wordpress.com? It doesn’t seem to be able be available on the free plan. Is this available on any of the subscription plans?

    If it is available, how many steps would a user (I’d like to be a viewer) have to take to actually get access to the private blog?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
