Add Widget Outside of Sidebar?

  Hey all-

  I’m new to messing around on WordPress. Is there any way to add a widget to a page instead of the sidebar?

  The idea I’m having is to somehow use the RSS widget to have a live RSS Feed page. Is this within the capabilities of WordPress?

  This is unlikely, but there’s not any way to custom filter RSS feeds is there? That would be a cool widget to work on.. a multi-feed RSS aggregator.

  Also, any way of customizing the display of the output? Like how it’s formatted, etc.? I’ve tried simply copy/pasting the code and it’s sort of outputting, but I don’t know if that is going to stay current of if it’s just a ‘snapshot’ of the current posts of the feed.

  Typically widgets appear on all pages of the blog although there are some where widgets do not appear on pages, so the short answer is that there is no way to put an RSS feed into the body of a page since if you did so, it would be in the body of all pages.

  WordPress.COM has never allowed RSS feeds to be put into pages because it is a prime tool of sploggers and wordpress.COM loathes sploggers and does everything they to deny them their theft tools.

  Also, when asking a question in the forums, please provide a link to your blog since most times we need to see the blog in order to help.

  Since you didn’t provide a link, I can’t even be sure you are in the correct forum. If you are talking about a self-hosted blog using the software downloaded from wordpress.ORG, then the above answer would not apply and you would need to inquire over at wordpress.ORG’s forums.

  Hey-

  Sorry about all that. It is my brother’s blog and he asked about customization.

  The blog is at http://solesource.wordpress.com … It’s not self-hosted, and with his level of technical experience I assume he just logged in and used mostly defaults.

  Anyways, I believe you’ve answered my question. Can’t put an RSS Feed (or other widgets) into the body of a page.
