add widget to archives page

  I’d like to put a few widgets in the archives page of my blog. Because I set up a single column format of the Fusion Theme I can’t seem to add anything to individual pages. I want to keep the blog post page the way it is but have other pages with a two column format. Is there a way to do this without altering the CSS (I’m not quite ready for that yet)? Any other advice on customization or my blog is welcomed!

  The setting with Fusion is all or nothing although you can use the footer widget area with the “no sidebar” layout.
