If you are familiar with CSS,you can change you current css by copy the css of animass theme.

CSS is specific to each Theme – if you copy and paste from another theme you will crash your Theme and it will look like garbage if you are lucky – if you are not lucky it will look much worse.

    Thanks for the replies

I feel the css & html need to be an integrated unit also.

WordPress.com help suggests that it is possible to request a theme be added to WordPress.com and this is what I would like.
Is anyone here from WordPress.com and able to add anIMass theme?
I am grateful for further help

  • Hi, rhdblog101! The anIMass theme looks very similar to Twenty Ten with a custom background applied. You might want to give Twenty Ten a shot.

    Hi
    Thanks for further replies.
I am in fact the author of anIMass WP theme (which is in the WordPress.org themes directory) & it is based a lot on TwentyTen theme (with some more features than custom background ie custom menus & html5).
I would really like to use this theme on my WordPress.com blog (I use it on several of my wordpress.org blogs).
Can WordPress.com please aadd it to the themes directory (so that I & others can use it)?

Im sorry to intrude like this but… it might help you to know that here in wordpress.com we tend to eagerly wait for completely brand new themes, really different ones, not themes which are simply based on an existing one. I have had a quick look at the theme you mentioned and it does look to me very much similar to Twenty Ten indeed. Therefore it appears to me as rather unlikely that it would be added as such anytime soon. If you read the way each theme is announced you can sense that people expect different things all the time, even if they are not going to choose that specific theme for themselves (eg here : http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2011/02/25/new-theme-choco/ )

However, if you designed it, then maybe you could apply that custom background to Twenty Ten in wordpress.com and take it from there?

Or maybe you could view your “wordpress.com” blog as a separate one and not try to use the same theme on all your different projects? Maybe you’ll find that more exciting, who knows? :)

    Take care.

    Hi sunnisme
Thanks for replying. It is clear anIMass theme is based on TwentyTen code but it is a different theme in its own right. If you have looked at the code you can see it is fully html5 coded (not partly as 2010) with a different structure (header + centered fixed width main container) but with WP3 features ie custom headers/background/menus giving it a different appearance & form & function to 2010. Granted it is a simple design without whizzy JavaScript or JQuery addons but it is completely fit for purpose as a WordPress theme and has been approved as such by being available in WordPress.org themes directory. The benefit of its simple design is it makes the content stand clear. In essence anIMass theme has several clear but subtle differences to 2010. However everyone is entitled to their own opinion on what makes a good WordPress theme and I do not find your points enough to discount making anIMass available as a theme for WordPress.com.

I feel it is good to offer WordPress.com users a wide choice of approved WordPress themes.
(As an aside anIMass theme imho seems more advanced with a nicer appearance than my current rhdblog101 theme-Neat! which is why I want to change!)

Interesting point you make about using Twenty Ten theme. I may try to use it & not just add a custom background but to change the whole code to give a theme similar to anIMass. I guess that is possible but why go to that trouble of editing a theme to such an extent to be a different theme when allowing the new theme to be added to the directory is the best & simplest option?
Is this sort of editing allowed in WordPress.com?
Otherwise I am just not interested in using 2010 theme with a custom background (that by itself does not change the theme from 2010 to the anIMass design/appearance I like!).

Anyway I contacted the forum with this issue from WordPress.com theme support
