added & paid for domain mapping, where is it?
-
I pointed my domain to one of my WordPress blogs last night and see that it’s already been propagated to the WP servers. I went in to map it to my blog, paid the $10, but the domain doesn’t appear in the list. How long does it take or did I do something wrong?
-
It can take several hours or even days. And there has been speculation that WordPress doesn’t do domain mapping on the weekends.

Ok, thanks! I was afraid I used .com instead of .org, or fouled up my Paypal transaction since I don’t use it much and always have to recover my password…. :-(

I see the 10 credits added.
Go into the blog you want to map, go to Settings > Domains and take it from there.
Any problems post back and it’ll be fixed. -
Ok I did that and it runs now, but didn’t take “wordpress” out of the URL.
Was I supposed to buy the domain and upgrade here in order to do that?

You can either 1) buy a domain ($5) AND map your wordpress.com blog to that domain ($10) or you can 2) buy a domain somewhere else, do the name server thing, and then map your domain to your wordpress.com blog ($10). I assume you did the latter and that your domain now redirects to your wordpress.com blog.
Here comes the confusing thing (WordPress really needs to change this): After domain-mapping, go to Upgrades > Domains. Notice the little link in the row with your domain name that says “Put your blog here”. Click there to actually set the domain and take the wordpress out of your URL. Conversely, in the row with your wordpress.com blog, click the same link to take your domain off your blog. -

Click ‘put blog here’ :)
