    Hello @tinchicken66,

Yes, the person assigned to an Editor role should have a WordPress.com account to be able to participate.

    Hope this helps.

ok. thanks . the problem is how do you make an account without having a new web page . all the other person wants to do is join my page to help me out .

    You are welcome.

The best way to go about this is to invite the other user, using their email id as instructed in the link below:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/

They will now receive an email from you with an invitation, now the user can click on Accept Invitation button displayed in pink color, which redirects them to a new browser window and initiates a WordPress.com sign up.

Once the user signs up and logs in, it by default redirects them into your dashboard with basic user rights limited to an Editor role. This way you do not have to worry about the other person having to creating an account without the need to create a webpage.

    A few suggestions:

    1. Ask the other person to access their email account to accept your invitation in a private window/incognito mode. This helps avoid overlapping sign ups with other WordPress.com accounts the other person may have, if any.
    2. Use the same private/incognito window to finish the sign up process as well.

I hope this was of help.
