Added HTTPS to WordPress and Site Address, now cannot access admin page

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

In Dashboard > Settings > General, I updated the WordPress Address and Site Address to have https instead of http. Now I cannot access my admin page and thus cannot revert to the old http setting.

My site is throwing a 404 error and I host on Namecheap. HELP!

    Good afternoon Grant.
Some confusion exists here. On one hand you say you are hosted somewhere other than WordPress, then you later give a .wordpress.com address.

Blogs hosted at other than WordPress have different features from WordPress hosted blogs. Some of the major differences are covered here:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you did this on the outside hosted blog, the forums at WordPress.ORG might be able to help. In general, if you changed a parameter in the address, try making that change in the address when you try to access the site. Other than that, hopefully your ISP does regular backups, perhaps they can restore an earlier version for you.

The qs01blog.wordpress.com comes up just dandy as a beginning. If you are just starting out and you learn best by following along with videos there is a great YouTube channel:

WordPress also has its own learn as you go that can be found here:
