Added Jetpack Backup, and now Jetpack is default Dashboard
-
Hello, friends!
I took advantage of the sale pricing for JetPack Back-Up, and now my website’s back-end looks completely different. I suspect the difference is now my view is defaulting to WordPress.com instead of whatever was there previously, but I want to use Jetpack Back-up AND have my old dashboard back. Is there a way to do this? When I deactivate Jetpack, my view reverts to the previous dashboard. But, when I reinstall Jetpack, even the free version, everything goes back to WordPress.
Thank you, in advance, for any suggestions! -
Hi there!
When you activate Jetpack you can use your WordPress.com dashboard to manage your site, however, you can still access the WP-admin by going to
yourdomain/wp-admin. Is that what you were trying to do? -
Thank you so much for your willingness to try to assist!
When I go to mydomain/wp-admin with Jetpack installed, it defaults to what I think might be Jetpack’s custom dashboard.
It autodirects me to mydomain/wp-admin/admin.php?page=custom-dashboard.php.
When I deactivate Jetpack, it reverts to mydomain/wp-admin. However, this was not the case before I added Jetpack’s paid back-up service, and even though I cancelled the paid Jetpack service, as long as Jetpack is activated, it still autodirects me to mydomain/wp-admin/admin.php?page=custom-dashboard.php.

This may sound really silly, but is it possible that I was using a WordPress.org site, and activating a paid plugin (Jetpack’s back-up) switched my site over to a WordPress.com site?

There are a lot of steps involved with moving a site from WordPress.org to WordPress.com – it can’t really happen by mistake or accident.
What is the site URL?

Thank you all so much for being willing to help. Things definitely went wonky after Jetback back-up was installed, but uninstalling a different plugin seems to have reverted most (not all) of the dashboard back to its original state. Wishing you all the best!

The plugin that I deactivated, accomplishing a (for the most part) revert to the previous view, was: wordpress-starter/siteground-wizard.php
I was not using anything other than the steps in the link provided.
Thank you all for your help!
