Added Text Widget Lost Side Bar Info

I just tried to add two text widgets. I’m using the Connections two column theme with page navigation. As soon as I added the widget (or tried) I lost all of the text in the right hand column. Until this happened that column had contained my links, alternative navigation to the pages that are listed across the top plus nested pages. All this has now disappeared. Help! I’d rather not have the widgets at all and get back to what I originally had, but when I click on Widget it only allows me to add, not delete wdigets. Can I have some suggestions please.

    Thanks,
    John

What was originally there was just a sample display of the widgets that was shown so that you could know what the widgets looked like. Once you add a widget, the sample set disappears. Simply add in the other widgets that you want to use and arrange them as you wish. Make sure and click “save change” when done.

But is there a way to remove the two text widgets I added to return to my original state?

Yes, but you can create exactly what you had before by just adding in the widgets that were shown in the sample set.

What was there, was links, pages, categories, search and archive, in that order. The “about this site” widget at the top of the sidebar will disappear, but all it is is a repeat of your tagline which appears right below your blog title anyway so it just repeats information.

If you want to remove the text widgets go to appearance > widgets, click on the edit link for the widget and click “remove.” Do that for both and then click “save changes” and you are back to the sample set.
