Adding a badge to the sidebar

Before you say, “add a text widget” – I’ve done that 5 times. All that happens is that I get the title text which I’ve typed — no badge. No link to anything. Please help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Could you post the code you are trying to use here? Just paste it into your response, and enclose it in the “code” tags. If you are posting from the forum, you would just copy and paste the code, highlight the code after you paste it, and then click “code” button. If you are replying by e-mail, put a “`” mark before and after the pasted code.
If you got the badge code from another website, chances are good it includes some code that isn’t allowed on WordPress.com. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
In many cases we can copy the intent of the original code by making some small changes, but in order to help you do that, I’ll need to see the code.
Thanks!

I was able to get both of those pieces of code to work in my text widget, just with no link back to the challenge. Try the code below instead:
<a href="http://www.fbcookieswap.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.fbcookieswap.com/images/fbcookieswap2014_badge.png" border="0" alt="The Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap 2014"></a>To make it work, first you have to add the empty text widget to your sidebar, then copy and paste the code into the widget. If you do it from your dashboard it will look like this:
If you do it from the customizer, it will look like this:
If you are still having trouble, could you take a screen shot of where you are entering the code into the text widget? That will help me see where things are going off the rails:
Here’s how to take a screenshot: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/
Once you have taken the screenshot, the easiest way to save it is to click this link and follow the instructions to get a link to the screen shot image: http://snag.gy/
