Adding a Banner

Is there anyway I can add a banner to the theme I am currently in? I can’t seem to find a way of doing so however just wanted to inquire.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can put it in a post, but if you’re talking about a banner ad, those are not allowed at WordPress.com.

The theme ‘Light’ does not have a custom header.

If you want to find a theme with a custom header:
appearance > themes > Under “Available Themes” there is a drop-down box that says “Show all themes” > click that and choose “custom header (27)” to see which themes feature a custom header.

I understand that banners popularizing not-for-profit organizations are ok, right? If it is ok, where do I post the banner link into my post? Thanks so much for help!

    In a text widget.

And please paste the exact URL of your blog when asking questions here – or link your nickname to your blog as explained in the Sticky 8 Things to Know. We usually need that to give a relevant answer.

thanks for the response and sorry: http://www.transcation.wordpress.com
is there a chance, though, to past the banner link into a post, not text widgets? when I paste the link into just the post text window, it doesn’t come up as a banner but as a link. I am a little lost…

Yes of course you can paste it in a post, but permanent things are best put in the sidebar. Paste the link here so we can se what may be wrong (backtick-code-backtick).

it worked on a different blog so I was wondering what I might be doing wrong… I would rather put the link into a post, rather than in the sidebar (which may be an option in the futre).
    anyway, here it is:

That will never work here since it contains flash.

here, meaning on wordpress.com? or in the post?

  • Unknown's avatar

Meaning on wp.com. Flash and javascript codes are not allowed, for security reasons. You can use a plain html version.

i guess this was the only one available. thank you both for your hints!
