There are quite a few themes that will allow you to upload a custom header image of your own. As well, if you get the CSS upgrade, you can put in any header of your choice.

Trent, could you clarify?
There’s my blog…can I just upload a banner and add it somewhere around the top? I’m brand new to this wordpress thing, so please bear with me.

There were porn tags on this particular forum post that I got rid of. The theme you have chosen doesn’t let you have a custom header image, but if you go through your Admin => Presentation and go through the themes. If you can have a custom header, there will be a new tab ‘Custom Header’ when you choose a theme with that option.

And don’t tag your blog posts the same way you tagged this thread or you’ll risk getting some nasty surprises. Tag spam is a big no-no.

Hi, I am supposed to be able to get my own pic on header but it won’t let me select a file and I have tried changing skins and they all are doing that to me. There is a crop box that is supposed to be on the next page…… ( HI rain)

You need to edit your profile here in the forums to put in the URL of your blog to have it show up in your profile.

Linking your username to your wp.com blog in the forum
(1) Go up to the top right hand corner of this forum page and look for “Welcome, aast! View your profile” and click “View your profile”.(2) Next click “edit this information”.
(3) Complete the fields being sure that where it says website that you enter http://yourblogname.wordpress.com (no period at the end or the link won’t work)
(4) Once you’re done click “Update Profile”. Voila! Now every time you sign into the forum we can click on your username and your blog will be linked to it.
(5) Also note that there is a complete record of every post that you make to the forum on your forum profile page. Everyone in the forum can access it by simply clicking on “Member” next to your username. :)
Adding a customized header to your blog. You have chosen the OceanMist theme and there have been some problems with it lately. Suffice to say the best results are obtained by pre-sizing the image prior to uploading. Images of exactly 760 x 190 pixels will be used as-is for OceanMist.
If you pre-size a header and are not successful uploading it send a feedback to staff being sure to tell them which browser and version of it you are using.

Not related to the “banner question”, but sort of similar; is there a time delay to when your avatar will show up? I uploaded it several times, but I still have a grey face…I’m just waiting for my delightful “Canadian Red Maple Leaf mascot” to show up….:-)
