Adding a blog to my website

    I am having trouble with the blog aspect of my website (created through Wix). I heard WordPress was easier to use, and I want to know if I can link a blog on Word Press with my own website?

    Hi there,

    So you want your website to remain with Wix, but have your blog here with us?

    There’s no way to “link” the two, so they’re intrinsically connected, but there are a few options you can consider:

    1) The simplest: create a blog here on WordPress.com, and on your Wix website, simply add a link to your site menu that takes people to the blog. Likewise you can add a menu link on the WordPress.com site that takes people back to your website.

    2) Assuming you have your own domain at Wix, create a subdomain for your blog, e.g. blog.yourdomain.com. Then you can add that subdomain on your WordPress.com site using our domain connection upgrade (requires that the WordPress.com site is on a paid plan). You’d still want to add links to the respecitive sites’ menus as well. But using a subdomain makes the association between the two sites a bit clearer.

    3) Create a site here on WordPress.com, and then embed your site’s feed on your Wix website. In other words, you’ll create a page on the Wix site, and your WordPress.com site’s posts feed will appear on that page.

    I did some searching regarding the latter, and in Wix’s documentation I found https://support.wix.com/en/article/wix-editor-embedding-a-site-or-a-widget which mentions embedding a full site. From that it looks like they simply create an iframe, and your full WordPress.com site will be embedded inside that. I can tell you right away that that will cause problems on mobile screens – the embedded WordPress.com content won’t be able to dynamically resize and rearrange based on screen size, the way the rest of your Wix site likely does, if you use this method.

    Another option would be to only embed your WordPress.com site’s RSS feed. I can’t find any instructions for that in Wix’s documentation, but there does appear to be third-party services that lets you do this, e.g. https://tagembed.com/support/esmbed-rss-feeds-on-wix/

    Ultimately, if you decide to go for option 3, it will probably be best to contact Wix support and find out what they recommend in this regard.
