Adding a category for items in the Food Menus in the Confit theme
-
@crombiejohn,
Thanks for this education.I hadn’t known about the Food Menus drop-down menu in the dashboard. This is a unique feature of the Confit theme, and the first case I’ve seen of a theme with a modified dashboard, and special editor, category, and tag pages.
Don’t know if the following will assist you at all, but it might help others who wish to try out the Confit theme to begin to understand how its unique features are related to standard WordPress.com dashboard features.
Confit’s Food Menus drop-down menu in the dashboard is obviously modeled on the standard Posts menu, which is still present in the Confit theme. The Food Menus options are for the most part analogous to options under Posts, but there are some differences, particularly the “Add Many Items” option under Food Menus, which has no parallel in the Posts options. “Add Many Items” is a post editor which allows bulk posting. The first instance I’ve seen.
The following equivalents or correlates present when comparing the “Posts” and “Food Menus” menus:
Posts ……………….. Food Menus
All Posts ………….. Menu Items
Add New …………. Add One Item
(no parallel)……… Add Many Items
Categories ……….. Menu Item Labels
Tags ………………… Menu Sections
Copy a Post ……… (no parallel option) -
musicdoc1: while this would have helped me yesterday (no offense intended) i have over the past 24 very slowly figured this out. I twill hopefully help future readers as I couldnt find it documented anywhere else (again new to wordpress so apologies if im wrong)
The ONLY issue I have now got is the display of the posts as an archive format/exerts so I think all the help has managed to get me sorted regarding the threads main issue…mark for close perhaps?
