Sorry, but that didn’t work. Also, when I select “save and continue editing” on the draft post containing the linked codes the goes away. I typed it into the widget box. Thank you so much for your help!

Do remember that you have to paste code into the “code” tab” not the visual tab. Copy and paste the code below into your text widget (if that is where you want to use it) or into a post (with the code tab active) and it will work for you. I tested this code on my test blog and know it works.
<a href="http://https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick&business=buffalogirlfarms%40hotmail%2ecom&item_name=alms%20for%20the%20poor&no_shipping=0&no_note=1&tax=0&currency_code=USD&lc=US&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF&charset=UTF%2d8"></a><a name="business" title="business"></a><img src="http://jasjuice.wordpress.com/files/2007/12/paypal-button.gif" alt="alms for the poor" /> </a> -
Nope. I copied it to my text widget box and viewed site, and the button didn’t take me anywhere. I visited jasjuice.wordpress.com from a different computer, without signing in, and clicked on the donate button, and it did nothing. It’s a mystery.

If the button didn’t take you anywhere then there is a problem with the href link itself. I didn’t try clicking on the image to see if it worked. What you’re going to have to do is go back through the process and see if you can get the correct link. I actually made some more changes and it’s not linking, but the link “cannot be found” by my browser which confirms there is an issue with the href link.

This is the code that works, but as I said, everything between the “s after href= needs to be replaced:
<a href="http://https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick&business=buffalogirlfarms%40hotmail%2ecom&item_name=alms%20for%20the%20poor&no_shipping=0&no_note=1&tax=0&currency_code=USD&lc=US&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF&charset=UTF%2d8"><img src="http://jasjuice.wordpress.com/files/2007/12/paypal-button.gif" alt="alms for the poor" /> </a> -
My. That sounds vaguely medical and intimidating: “you’re href link is possibly malignant.” I will try copying a href link for a different donate button. Thanks.

With the new button it takes me to the “the page cannot be displayed”, which is, I suppose, an improvement. This is the code it gave me:
<a href="http://https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick&business=buffalogirlfarms%40hotmail%2ecom&item_name=alms%20for%20the%20poor&no_shipping=0&no_note=1&tax=0¤cy_code=USD&lc=US&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF&charset=UTF%2d8"><img src="http://jasjuice.wordpress.com/files/2007/12/another-donate-button.gif" alt="another-donate-button.gif" /></a> -

Thanks. I’ll browse around on the paypal site to see if I can find a help forum there. Thanks to you all I’m now an expert at linking a donate button to my site, and I can do it without

I want to do this, but I don’t want my own custom image, but I want to use the Paypal default image. I’m still having problems and can’t my link to work.

please don’t repeat the same question in multiple threads, it’s redundant. once is enough. =)
