Adding a domain I alredy owned

    Hi, i currently using free plan wordpress to my small site. I already owned a domain and wanted to connect it to the site.

    It did not work! And require me to upgrade to paid plan
    Why does it only showing a Premium Plan which is very expensive for my small site?? It used to be more option like personal etc…

    Also is upgrading to a paid plan meaning the same thing with buying a web hosting??

    If so, could I buy eeb hosting else where that is affordable?

    Where do you own this unnamed domain? Perhaps you could host the domain right there where you purchased it?

    Note that you may find somewhere cheaper but it is doubtful they will provide the support offered by WordPress.com with a Pro plan.

    Or in another word, is upgrading your wordpress.com plan the same thing like buying a web hosting. So that once I upgraded it with space specified on the plan, will allows me to connect to my domain name and make my website go public more professionlly?

    It used to be more wordpress.com plans in the past. Why does it now only showing me 1 plan that is pro plan?
    What happen with the rest of them?

    Hi there,

    Yes that is basically correct. We do not call ourselves a “traditional web host’” but the costs involved are similar. Most hosts do not offer a “free site” option however, which is one way that we are different.

    It used to be more wordpress.com plans in the past. Why does it now only showing me 1 plan that is pro plan?

    We received a lot of feedback that our plans were confusing, so we condensed them to offer our most popular plan at a lower price. We do intend to offer more options including single “a la carte” upgrade options, but at this time our only option is the Pro Plan.
