  How can I get a domanin WITHOUT upgrading the hosting service?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,
  You can only get a custom domain for your site if you have an upgraded plan. You will need any of these plans if you you bought your domain somewhere else, or whether you want to buy it with WordPress.com

  Accounts that already own a domain can buy additional domains, but new accounts cannot buy or map a domain without a plan.
