Adding a ‘donations’ button to drive to a different organization?

I’m wondering if there’s a way to set up a donation on my posts/pages that drives to a charitable organization that I’m not a part of. And if there is, how do I get that up and going?

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hi jasoneffmann,

There is a Donations Block that allows you to accept donations.

The money would go into an account you’ve set up with Stripe. I don’t know of any way to send the money directly to an organization you’re not a part of.

I’m not sure if that’s of much help or not. Maybe somebody else has an idea I don’t know of.

    Cheers,
    Eric

  • Hi there,

To add a donation button that sends contributions directly to the charity, you’d need to get that button from the charity directly. In other words, you’d need a button embed code that is directly linked to that organisation’s PayPal account, GoFundMe, Patreon, or whatever it is they use. And in that case it will likely require our Business Plan to embed that button on WordPress.com, due to the code and embed restrictions we have on other plans.

Alternatively you can use a simple PayPal button (free) or our PayPal block (premium) to take donations via your PayPal account, or the Donations block (any paid plan) to take donations via Stripe, and then pay that over to the charity you want to support yourself.

Eric shared instructions for the donations block above. You can find instructions for the two PayPal options here:
