adding a field for folks who want to be added to my mailing list

  Hi everyone.

  Does anyone know where I might go to try and add a box to my Front Page, inviting people to provide their email address to be added to my mailing list? And then of course I just need to ensure that I am indeed receiving these notifications, or else know where to go on my site, to look for requests to be added to my mailing list. I guess another question related to that might be…is there then some kind of mailing list manager (i.e., MailChimp I think it’s called?) that such requests could automatically be uploaded to, to save me the step of having to manually add email addresses to say my own personal Contact list maintained elsewhere?

  Thanks everyone.

  Before I try going the Mailchimp route, which seems a bit involved, I thought I’d try the Widget route.

  First off, what always stumps me is the term ‘widget’. I don’t exactly get what a widget it is or what it does, versus say like a Social Media button for Twitter or FB, etc.

  Anyway, I was able to find the Contact form and customize it how I want it. I also adjusted the Settings to ensure that any Contact info comes to my mailbox and also has a certain subject heading (so I’ll know to act on such messages).

  The Contact form is now a new Page but the thing is…I don’t want it shown on my site as yet another actual Page or item listed in the top menu bar of my Home Page. Perhaps this is where the ‘widget’ thing comes in.

  I just want some kind of small button to appear on certain pages that says something like ‘Click here to be added to Mailing list’, and THEN it can open up to the new Contact page that I customized. I am not understanding the directions for how to accomplish this. I saw something about going to a particular Page on my site, in the Visual version, and then clicking the + button in the top left of my toolbar but…. I don’t have a + button in the top left of my toolbar…the first button is the (add) Media button…
