Adding a forum to a site

Is there any way to add a forum to my site while still keeping it all online in the dashboard & not using a plug in?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No. You can’t even use a plugin. What you can do is get a forum somewhere off WP.com and use a Custom menu to put a link to it in your header.

1) go to Google, look for free online forums, and get one
2) no. WP.com is a blog host. It supports blogging. There are lots of forum hosts that support forums.
3) once you have a forum, just make a link to it. A regular old link. It will not be hosted at WP.com, but that doesn’t mean you can’t point people at it.
