Do you have CSS editing skills? If so, have you purchased the CSS editing upgrade?

If you do not have the upgrade then the answer is “no” you cannot add a free background image to your theme.
-
I have located a post that may be helpful. here’s the link http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/08/11/backgrounds-in-posts/

There is an inline CSS trick that can be used with some themes here. I haven’t tried it to see if it works in Misty Look though. Basically you upload your background image to the media library, get the URL and then put it in the following code which is placed in a text widget at the top of your sidebar. This code is basic and depending on the nature of your image could well need some additional attributes or adjustments to some of the existing attributes.
<div style="position:fixed;top:0;left:0;background:#fff url('http://IMAGE_NAME.jpg');width:100%;height:100%;z-index:-1000;"></div> -

hey if you could see if it would work for Misty look please let me know??? I am afraid to try I might mess something up?!
-
-
was going with this just for practice…
<div style=”position:fixed;top:0;left:0;background:#fff url(http://i50.tinypic.com/nw0tx2.jpg);width:100%;height:100%;z-index:-1000;”>

As I said, additional attributes will be required. The following code works with MistyLook, but it MUST be put in a text widget. It will not work when you put it in a post.
<div style="position:fixed;top:0;left:0;background:#fff url(http://i50.tinypic.com/nw0tx2.jpg) repeat scroll;width:100%;height:100%;z-index:-1000;"></div>Due to the fact that the image is only 150px x 94px, you have to use the repeat attribute and also the scroll attribute.
In my opinion that image does not work well for a repeating background.
Take a look at my test blog: http://flippintestblog.wordpress.com/ .

Hi thanks for testing, I know that pic would not work it is the first I saw. I did make it bigger with tiny pics.. but for my real one I will want to find just like a fabric looking back ground plain.
so like a pic of the size of say 1600 would work?
-
actually this is what I have so far…….<div style=”position:fixed;top:95px;left:0;background:#fff url(‘http://i47.tinypic.com/2a0bw8w.jpg’);width:100%;height:100%;z-index:-1000;”>
though on the bottom on the last comments is a white line and in the bottom side bar is a grey box?
but this is better then nothing!!!!! thanks. now I need to just find the right back ground.
-
so thanks for the tips!!! this is what I have…..<div style=”position:fixed;top:93px;left:0;background:#fff url(‘http://i50.tinypic.com/1zqrn10.jpg’);width:100%;height:100%;z-index:-1000;”>
and on the comments there is a grey box but when it scrolls on to the white it does not show. I would really rather not have it scroll but…..
Thanks.

The image has to be made larger before you upload or use it.
I see you have a background now, but I’m wondering why you have decided to start it “93px” down from the top?
With the comments grey box, I’m not sure I understand what you are talking about.
-
Neither do I.
By the way, wouldn’t it be better if freetosing used an image uploaded to her blog instead of an external site?
-
Most definitely it would be better to have it uploaded here. Far less chance of their being loading issues, and it would load more quickly.
-
If I went more or less then 93px it would leave a white box above header ot it would erase the tabs all together.
I did make the pic bigger on tinypics.
what do you mean an image uploaded to my blog?
you mean save it in media? then get the url from there?
to me it loads just fine the way it is?
do i use the same code formate?
-
if I could get the background right up to my tabs with out erasing them or leaving a white block on the right I would. But I tried all between 80-100px and 93 is what i came up with.
maybe on your test one put in my code and if ya can fix it let me know…
…..<div style=”position:fixed;top:93px;left:0;background:#fff url(‘http://i50.tinypic.com/1zqrn10.jpg’);width:100%;height:100%;z-index:-1000;”>
