Adding a general gallery
-
Hi!
I’m trying to add a tab on my menu, if possible, called ‘Gallery’. In this, I would like it to display all the photos I have uploaded to my posts on wordpress, but in one location. For example, a viewer can just click gallery and then see all my photos without having to click on each individual post.
Thanks in advance!
D
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Do you want only the photos to appear on that Gallery tab or all the posts that include photos?
The first would require you to manually update a Page you create with a Gallery shortcode and the Post ID#; the second can be done automatically using a category Page.

Let me know if you need more info on either.

Thank you for your reply! Yeah I kind of want the ‘gallery’ tab to just be a complete summary of all the photos I have on all my posts, blended in to one.

OK-what follows is going to be kind of long.
If you want a single page with all your photos, the simplest way to do this is by adding all the images you’ve added in your posts afterwards to a Gallery feature on the Gallery page. That would be these instructions https://en.support.wordpress.com/gallery/ So upload the images once, but insert the images in two different places: once to your post and again to your gallery page. The downside to this is obviously the huge number of images that will eventually accumulate on that single page. Tough for you to maintain, your visitors to view because of the loading time which search engines do not love either.
One way around this is to use the Gallery page as a type of index and then create Child pages (sub-pages) with a set number of images on each Child page. https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/#create-sub-pages-page-order

The other way to do this, by using the Post ID#, requires more set up. Each Post you publish has an ID# that you can use with the Gallery shortcode that when inserted in a different Page or Post, will bring up the images that are in that original Post.
As an example, let’s take your firenze-con-wates post. The Post ID # for that specific Post is 176. (I’ll tell you how to find that ID# in a minute). In a new Page you could add the gallery shortcode [gallery id="176"] in the Page Editor and that would then pull all the images from that Post into the Page.
The Post ID # can be found in the WP Admin Dashboard Posts screen. If you hover your cursor over the title of the Post or click on the Post as though to edit it, you’ll see a number in the address line “post=XXX” It’s that number you need.
One advantage when you use multiple gallery shortcodes on a single Page is that you can break your Page down into sections using Pagination. https://en.support.wordpress.com/nextpage/
The disadvantage here is that the images must be attached to that Post to appear under the ID #. So you’ll need to check your Media Library to see that in the “Uploaded to” column the name of the post appears there. If they say “unattached”, you can follow this guide to attach them to the Post https://en.support.wordpress.com/media/unattached-files/
Let me know if you have questions about that.
