adding a link on the homepage (port theme)

  Hi,

  I’m using Port theme and have some text in the ‘recent projects’ section of the homepage. I would like some of this text to link to an ‘about me’ page, but can’t work out how to create a hyperlink in the text. I tried using some h ref code but it just appears in the text as the code, not as a hyperlink.

  Any ideas?

  Follow the instructions for creating a text link on the Links support page. The link appears as code in the text mode of the editor, and as a link in the visual mode.

  The basic format of a text link is

  <a href="destination URL">text</a>

  musicdoc1 – thanks for helping out. :) Just FYI, the text liarubysharma is referring to is edited in Port’s Customizer, so there’s no visual editor.

  Thanks for the help musicdoc1, but unfortunately that didn’t work.

  As Kathryn said, I’m talking about text in the customizer. I’ve tried just copy/pasting an existing link from the visual mode elsewhere on the site, and I’ve tried using an h ref code from the text mode as suggested by the links support page but no luck.

  Any thing I type into the customizer (actual text, or code) just appears as text…

  Any other ideas?

  It’s possible that the text in the Customizer in Port does not support HTML – that’s a decision made by the theme’s developer, ThemeTrust. I will do some testing to see if that appears to be the case and will keep you posted.

  I just tested this and it looks like HTML in the Recent Posts text field in the Customizer is not being parsed (rendered).

  I’ll report this to ThemeTrust to see if basic HTML support is something they would be willing to add to those text fields in the Customizer.

  liarubysharma – you may now add HTML like links to the “Homepage” fields in the Customizer and the HTML should be correctly rendered. Just let me know if anything still isn’t working with this – and thanks again for the report.
