Adding a Menu for Logged in users

I setup the business hosting and spoke with live support, what I wanted was to create a separate menu for logged in users, the agent said I need a plugin that works with Gutenberg or to use a membership plugin, as I already use a membership plugin that only offers you a menu for logged in users if you subscribe to their premium plan which costs over £200 a year.

The agent said this was worth it because they had put the work in, all this is caused by the Gutenberg block editor, if yo use a theme that uses the block editor you cannot add code to your functions.php that allows you to use a different menu for logged in users, you can only use this if you have a theme that uses the classic editor.

I had to refund by business plan setup simply because of this logged in menu issue, and also because the themes that come free with the business plan the premium themes are bad they are awful and very limited, youbcan only edit the custom colours with these premium themes, the agent offered to change the colours for me but I had no control unless I used the naff premium themes.

I find considering the fact WordPress in itself is a membership cms the ability not to add a menu for logged in users is rather bad, there should be a way you can use a different menu for logged in users that doesn’t involve issues with the block editor or you should at least be able to edit the functions.php with the menu code which did not work with the block editor.

So unless I use a theme that uses the old custom menus I cannot use a menu for logged in users, the thing that stumped me more was the fact the agent didn’t know anyway I could use a different menu for logged in users other than using a membership plugin that allowed it,, I wasn’t about to spend over £200 a year on a plugin that allows a menu for logged in users, considering I was about to spend £384 a year on hosting on the supposedly best hosting for WordPress in the world.

Being a membership cms there should really be a way to add a menu for logged in users that works with the new technology wordpress added which is the block editor, now I may be wrong here, but using a theme that uses the custom menus would that recognise the code for menus for logged in and out users in functions.php .

No advice was offered at all, he just said to use a membership plugin. I had to cancel the business plan because of this so I can find a solution that doesn’t involve me paying over £200 a year just to get a different menu for logged in users. The fact that I can’t edit the colours on any other theme like the business plan said unless I use a premium theme supplied with the business plan which are naff.

I have to sort this issue out, because like I said WordPress is a membership cms that allows users to subscribe a menu for logged in users being different would be a basic thing in my eyes.

I would really like some support on this because I want to use WordPress.com but I don’t want to pay over £200 a year just to use another menu for logged in users the support said he has never been asked to provide a menu for logged in users so he wasn’t much help.

    Thanks

I can’t even edit my typos in this support thread when I try to edit it says I can’t, this block editor types so slow it’s awful.

Here is a fix for this that uses the block editor so you can create a dynamic menu, it is compatible with Gutenberg.

I haven’t tried it yet to see if it works but if it’s compatible with the new technology then it must work.
