adding a new page to my blog
-
Hi wordpress, at the moment I have a 1 page blog at http://handymanchef.wordpress.com – I have just created a second page called My Makes but I can’t find a way to incorporate that, and subsequent pages, with my initial home page.
Can you tell me how to do it please? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

handymanchef,
To show up Pages, you basically need to create your own Menu.
You can find it in your Dashboard under Appearances->Menus.
Each Menu item can refer to a unique page.Note that Pages are static, and usually a place holder for introduction or something you will change rarely.
Posts are what you write about daily, a picture, your day today, etc.
Hope this helps!

1) The page does appear on your menu. You have published it as a child page to “About”, so it shows as a dropdown when you hover over “About”. To make it show up next to “About”, you need to edit it and set its parent status to “no parent”.
2) If you only want links to your static pages on the menu, you don’t “need to create your own Menu”: the regular menu of the theme automatically displays links to all your published pages.
3) But it seems that’s not what you’re looking for. And at the moment you’re confusing posts with pages, and static pages with dynamic pages. For starters:
a) Your welcome text (up to and including the paragraph “I hope to bring you” etc) should be separate from the rest – either as a separate post or as a static page.
b) On “My Makes”, the whole thing except the first two sentences should be a post, not a static page. Posts like this should be categorized under a “My Makes” category, and the two intro sentences should be the description of that category. -
Thanks everybody for the information so far. I have to say I am finding this quite confusing. What I would like to be able to do is to highlight some text and images, copy or cut them, and put them somewhere.
For example, I understand that ‘My Makes’ now should be a Post and not a Page. Can I turn a Page into a Post? And if so, how do I do it? -
Thanks sameernahar for the info. I will try what you say and let you know.
Another thing you might be able to help me with – At the side of your user name you have a photo – how do I get my little Avatar next to my ‘user name’? I think he is quite cute and I would like to use it. -

No theye are two very different “animals”. There is no way to automatically make one into the other. It’s copy and paste the content job.

The first place they tend to display is here in the forums. Don’t keep uploading or the time for displaying will move forward. Hi thistimethisspace – thanks for the info.
My first thought was to ‘cut and paste’, from one area to another – but I am sorry if I am being thick but I can see and “copy, delete and paste buttons. -

Great – I think I have done it, although I can’t see any changes yet.The tutorials are very helpful. Sorry if I am being a bit slow.

thistimethisspace Many thanks once again.
I did work out a way to do what I wanted – if you look at me blog now you can see.
I highlighted everything I wanted – then pressed Ctrl and C, then put the text and image I had copied into a MS Word doc. – started a new post then copied everything back into the new post.
Thank you and may God bless you.
