Adding a permanent www. before your address

    I have upgraded from “alittlebitofthisthat.wordpress.com” to “alittlebitofthisthat.com.” Yet, I’d like to add a www. to always appear before my domain name in the web address bar and cannot find how to do that. Thank you!

    Hi there,

    We actually strip out the www. for your convenience.

    www is an old protocol from back when everything was under separate server hardware. www (www.example.com) was the web server, mail (mail.example.com) was the mail server, ftp (ftp.example.com) was the FTP server, print (print.example.com) was the print server, etc.

    These days, everything is run under the web server, making www. redundant and a waste of four characters.

    Your domain, http://www.alittlebitofthisthat.com, will always be redirected to alittlebitofthisthat.com, so you can feel free to use either version on your business cards or elsewhere.
