Adding a photo into a link such as onto Facebook?

I am having the issue of whenever someone shares my blog in a link format on platform sites a photo is absent. I am wondering how to insert said photo so that it will show next to my link.

Not every theme has featured images; only some do. Your theme does have them https://wordpress.com/themes/independent-publisher/
We have no control over the images that Twitter, Facebook or any other social networks chooses to display or when they choose to flush their image caches. We really only send them the URL of the post, and they hunt through that for the excerpt and images to include.
