Adding a Pin It button
-
how can I add a “pin it” button to my website? I have the free Adelle theme, and would be willing to upgrade and pay a little bit more if I could add the Pin It button and other plugins/widgets. I would still however want to keep the same/similar layout. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi
The best way to do this is to add the Pinterest sharing button; see http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/ for a guide to do this. We don’t support this Pinterest’s official “pin it” button, but the Pinterest share button offers pretty similar functionality.
We offer a limited set of plugins, but if you had a specific example of something that you’re looking for, let me know; we may already offer something similar that I can point you towards.

Thanks djpaulgibbs! Is it better for me to self host via a .org account for more flexibility of widgets and plugins? If so, is it best to contact a host provider like Bluehost or Go Daddy (currently has my domain name) to accomplish this? I tried downloading WordPress last night via MAMP and it was a nightmare!!

As far as plugins go (which I don’t see on my appearance side bar by the way), I wanted to add the Pin It button (the share button will suffice and will look at it when I get home), and a plugin where you could put a signature at the end of a post (like in cursive). Last I wanted to figure out how to center my page menu; as of know it’s aligned to the left, I saw a website (Francoisetmoi.com) with the same theme, and her menu of pages at the top are centered. Sorry for all the questions, I was used to googleing HTML code and inputting that in tumblr.

It really depends on what you’re looking for, and how you want to achieve it. WordPress.com has a lot of built-in features that were inspired by popular plugins. As you’ve discovered, you can search on http://en.support.wordpress.com/ for what we support and instructions how to set it up.
It is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress blogs. This is why you don’t see the “Appearance > Plugins” menu on your WordPress.com site. If you are wondering how WordPress.com differs from WordPress.org, this support article explains the distinction: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
