Adding a Poll to my Blog – Oagalthorp
-
How do I add any of the “Web Gear” from this site to my blog. I don’t just want a link, I want to know how to add the fullthing without clicking anything? Please be very specific, I don’t know much Internet lingo, and I’m a rather poor learner. Thanks to anyone who helps!

If you’re asking about a specific site, always include the link and be specific.
I can tell you this: the only polls that work at WordPress.com are http://www.luckypolls.com . All the others have javascript or something that gets stripped out.

Start a new post.
In the editor, switch over to the code view.
Go to lucky polls.
Get html and copy it to the clipboard (control-c after the text is selcted).
Go back to wordpress’ editor.
Paste code into box (control-v).
Switch back to the visual editor to check things out.
Tweak as necessary.
Publish post. -
For some reason, you cannot use ‘<form>’ in the hosted WordPress.com blogs. I added a Text widget in a sidebar and copied my poll code but the form items are removed.

You’re right. You cannot use forms, iframes, or any kind of embed other than those specifically allowed. It’s because we’re on a shared blogging platform and a security risk introduced by one person is thus shared across all blogs using that theme. Thus, we have a smaller list of acceptable items. They’re all in the FAQ under Embeds, Video, or Audio.

Doesn’t lucky polls have an HTML option?
I thought we were sending folks over there that wanted a poll.
Or am I just imagining things again?

Yes, Luckypolls has an HTML option. I don’t know what slearl is using, but it’s probably not Luckypolls.
