Adding a “RSS Footer” in your blog.
-
So I was wondering what the best way would be to add a RSS Footer on my blogs. I know I can’t download the wordpress.org plug in to do it automatically, but none-the-less I am sure it can be done manually by typing it out right? What will I need to type out? Any suggestions? If someone can give me the code I will be able to work it out (I am no expert, but I did a bit of programming back in highschool, so I will work my way through it…)
Here are the websites that I am refering from:
http://www.joostdevalk.nl/wordpress/rss-footer/

Cheers!

I just wanted to add that the theme in my blog (I am not sure if other themes do this) has a “Comments RSS” at the end of each blog, but this only gives a RSS of the comments and not the blog itself….. Unless I misunderstood the whole RSS footer concept, I thought an RSS footer gave an RSS of the individual blog?
Thanks!

An RSS footer, as I understand it, is a piece of text (maybe in HTML) that is added to the end of every post in an RSS feed. It can contain copyright info, a signature or whatever you deem useful.
I understand that you want to use it to add a “fingerprint” to your posts that allows you to track and hunt content thieves.
There is no fully automated way to do this on wordpress.com. You need to append it by hand and it will appear in the blog as well. If you keep a text file with your “footer” ready, it’s a simple copy-paste operation.

haha thank you deltafoxtrot. Now the thing is, where can I get this RSS footer, because I have no idea of how to make it… I have noticed many people that have this but I cant see the code of how to make it myself, and I have no idea of where/how to begin :(
Do you know the code or where to get it from bt any chance?
Thanks again :) (sorry to be a pain)

I’m not sure what you want to do.
You have a feed. For example, mine is http://dark2light.wordpress.com/feed/

Well, if I wanted to make an RSS Footer it would like this:
This fine piece of writing was posted at deltafoxtrots blog, where you can find lots and lots of other interesting stuff. My best texts include this Google Maps tutorial and that rant about club penguin blogs.
I’m to lazy to fill in links, but you get the idea.

Yes but I want to be able to put a feed button on every blog as a RSS footer. Not so people click on it, but so the page is given authority over people that want to copy the blog and exploit it for money (scrapers/splogers that kind of thing) This website is where I got the idea from:
http://www.problogger.net/archives/2008/01/20/fighting-scrapers-with-your-left-jab/
Out of wordpress.com there is a plug in you can use to do such a thing, while here you cant use plug ins hence why I am asking if anyone can help me with the code making :)

deltafoxtrot… Oh ok ok… I think I am getting it (sorry a bit slow today) so where you have your “this” you can provide the RSS feed of that one blog post, and where you have your blog name I provide a RSS link to the blog, and to finish of, you add the other 2 RSS links to the 2 things you mentioned…. right? Or am I way of track?

It’s only an example you can build upon. I wouldn’t actually include Links to RSS feeds, only one to my main feed. e.g. If you like what you read, subscribe to my feed
The most important thing (that has to do with RSS) is that you have this info in every post and therefore in your RSS Feed. If some punk decides to steal your content by scraping your feed, you have lots of links to drive people back to your site and something to prove your ownership.

Thank you for your help and patients. I will work something up later today and keep it in a word document so I can copy/paste it in future posts :)
Cheers!
