Adding a second free site

    I have an existing free site whose domain name ends in ‘.wordpress.com’. For the sake of example, let’s say it’s ‘foo.wordpress.com’. I’d like to add another site that also ends in ‘.wordpress.com’, for example ‘bar.wordpress.com’.

    When I go to ‘My Sites’, the last item listed in the menu says ‘Add new site’. When I click that, I’m taken to https://wordpress.com/jetpack/new?ref=calypso-selector. It seems that I’m being forced to register a new domain name, or migrate an existing domain name.

    Is there any way to just create a new free site within ‘.wordpress.com’? I hope that makes sense.

    At the link you provided it says

    Create a shiny new WordPress.com site

    Click on start now below that and type a word or phrase in the next box. You’ll be offered a free address below the two paid for ones. You can continue to fine tune the offered free address before proceeding.
