Adding a user to existing account

    I want to add a general Admin user profile to our existing account at https://wordpress.com/home/roncyworks.wordpress.com, so that I don’t have to log in with my personal account for posting some general items. But in order for me to accept my own invitation to (email visible only to moderators and staff), I have to create a new paid account, it seems. I don’t want to manage 2 websites, or pay for an extra space that I won’t need. Can I not create an alternative account for the Admin?

    Hi there,

    You don’t need to create a paid site to accept an invitation to the current site. But you will need to create a new, free username account to add as the second admin.

    Log out of WordPress.com completely and create a new username account using that email address:

    https://wordpress.com/start/account/user/

    Then, while still logged into the new account, click the link in the invite email to accept the invitation.

    You can also click the link without creating an account first, but make sure you’re logged out of your current WordPress.com account first when you do that, and make sure you select the option to create an account without creating a new site.

    If you want to link to past answers in the forums, try to link to something recent rather than a thread all the way from 2012. A lot has changed on WordPress.com since then, including the process of adding users to a site.

    It’s also much better to refer to a support page, rather than another forum thread. For example, the support page for adding users to a site can be found at https://wordpress.com/support/user-roles/

    However, in this case pointing to the instructions is not helpful, as the OP already knows how to send an invitation. They’re having trouble with accepting the invitation they’ve already received.

    Hey thanks Kokkeih. Logging out of Word Press completely and creating a new username account using that email address did the trick.
