Adding a widget to subsequent pages but not on main page
-
Hi all,
Newbie, here.
I was wondering if there is a way to put a widget on a secondary page – that is not on the main page. For instance, I would like to have a blogroll with a specific focus on a secondary page – like a list of links, but better because it would show the title of the most recent post, etc… But, I would like it specific to the secondary page. So…. if I have a Photography page, I would like to add a widget for blogrolls about photography – but only on the photography page – not on the main page. Any ideas of how to do this? I found a plugin that would work, however, plugins apparently only work on wordpress.org and not wordpress.com.
Thanks for your help!

I’m sorry but that’s not possible. The way your theme Twenty Ten is coded to display widgets is what you will have to accept. Also note that we cannot edit themes or templates here and change functionality at all. http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/editing-themes/

This post describes all themes and the Sidebars and other widget areas: number and position they allow for. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/02/26/sidebars-and-other-widget-areas/

Turre are themes that have multiple configurations for pages. Each configuration might have one or two sidebars. The theme options might allow to select different configuration for different pages. You could, for example, select a configuration with no side bar for the main page, and with one sidebar for another page. The down side is you have a limited number of configurations, at most three, and instead or posts they need to be pages.
One such teme is the Mystique Theme I use. You can see the difference of the main page, the Abou page and the Creative Common Conditions page under About page.
