Adding a WordPress site to another as a subdomain?
-
I have two WordPress sites. One is the main site and the other site is a news site related to the main.
I want to do something like this:
news.maindomain.com
Instead of the news site being newsdomain.com
Would I be able to make the “newsdomain.com” become “news.maindomain.com” instead?
If so, how?
I am on a business plan, if that changes anything.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The issue I’m coming across is this:
I followed the WordPress help and it keeps saying
“news.maindomain.com” is already taken.
I don’t understand how I’m supposed to set anything up if it keeps saying it’s taken.

Hi there,
Yes, you can have a subdomain on your WordPress.com site. You can find out how to add a subdomain to your site here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-subdomain/
I see that one instance of
news.yourdomain.comis already added/mapped to one of your sites, so perhaps you don’t need to add it again. You can click My Site → Upgrades → Domains to see a list of domains you’ve added to a site. Please note your Business plan gives you access to live chat support. Feel free to go to https://wordpress.com/help/contact and send us a message there if you have more questions.
