adding about me in gravater, causes author box to appear after post

  i am a single author using twenty-ten.
  normally the author box does not appear after the post.
  my problem is that when adding an “about me” text to my gravatar or via users/basic details/about you,
  an unwanted author box appears after the post.
  is this intended? cannot this be circumvented while still retaining the text in the hovercard?

  Yes it’s a feature. But very few themes support it, so if you don’t like it, you can switch to a different theme – see here:
