Adding additional info to a comment

  Is there any way to acquire additional info about a commentator, such as age, gender, location, and email address?

  This could be done in wordpress.org with a plugin. Can it also be done in wordpress.com?

  No. Think about what you are asking for please. That would be an invasion of privacy that would serve the twisted needs of identity thieves and online sex predators.

  There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we bloggers cannot install any plugins.

  Any such data requested from the commentator would be completely optional. Their comment would be posted completely independently of whether or not they supplied the additional requested data.

  Understood however that makes me nervous when kids are involved because they will provide information to complete strangers when they ought not to. Bottom line: There is no FTP access and we cannot install any plugins.
