Adding Amazon banners/Amazon Associate link and a contact button?
-
Can I place these things on my blog to monetize the site. I have the free site and am questioning if this is possible and where exactly do I go about adding these to my blog?
Also, I wanted to add a contact me button, but when I go to set it up it places my email address in the field and does not leave it blank so that the person contacting me can put their email address in that field. I do not want my email address to be made known – I just want a way for them to contact me off the blog comments. Can someone help me with this please?
Thank you!

You are allowed to use affiliate links on your site, but you cannot place banner ads of any type, as we do not allow outside advertising. If you’re interested in running ads, you can check out WordAds, our in-house ad service: http://wordads.com/ .
As for your contact form, when you’re logged in our system will automatically fill in certain details based on your account information. Other logged in users will see their own contact information there. Logged out users will see a blank form.

So can I place Amazon Associate widgets on my blog and if so where do I go to put those in?
I signed up for WordAds, but have never heard anything more about that or maybe I have no idea how to turn it on – new to all of this and kind of feel lost with technology on some levels – like these kinds of things.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!Lori

For WordAds, if you submitted an application, you should have received a response. With a new site and low traffic, it’s not really worth having ads for now, though, so you might work on building your traffic first and then reapply.
You cannot add the widget code from Amazon to your site, as we don’t allow embedded code like that for security and performance reasons. You can, however, use regular affiliate links in the body of a post, as in a book review.

So other than WordAd – there is no way I can monetize my blog if that is what I would like to do? I thought I have seen other WordPress blogs with ads on them – is that strictly through WordAd then?
I guess I will have to leave Amazon Associates – should have asked before I signed up – disappointing. I am unemployed and trying to find ways to make some extra money.
I never received a response from WordAd – guess I was too small – what is enough traffic to be included in that?
Thanks!

I thought I have seen other WordPress blogs with ads on them –
Two versions of “WordPress” see below. Might have been WordAds (they have a small link “about these ads” that goes to a WordPress.com page)

Income vs/ traffic I have seen a few people that say 1,000 page views a day to get pizza money at the end of the year. I looked at the 50% split thing for a friend by looking at the cost to buy ads on different sites. Their site at over 50,000 page views a day would still have been well under $ 100.- / year

WordPress.com runs ads on our users’ sites, unless the user opts to purchase our No Ads upgrade.
WordAds is a special opt-in program where users with significant traffic can run ads from our ad partners, much like Adsense and other programs. mike99362 is correct that you need pretty significant traffic to get any ad revenue, but that is true both for WordPress.com and all other ad programs out there.
You can certainly use Amazon affiliate links. You simply cannot use the widget code they provide on the Amazon Associates site because that code doesn’t work on WordPress.com.

So other than posting my link to my blog on Facebook and emailing the link to friends and family – how do I get more people to my blog? All new to this, like I said before and I have been reading on that, but just not clear what other routes I can take.
I am not on Twitter anymore because most of my friends are not on there – just Facebook, so I hardly used it when I had an account.
Thanks for the advice!
