adding Amazon widgets

I have a premium site, how do I add amazon and google links to it?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there – You can add any widget that consists of plain HTML by pasting that HTML into a text widget:
    Text Widget

If the widget includes other types of code that aren’t permitted here, such as Javascript or an iframe, it won’t work, though:
    Code

In that case, you can create your own widget by uploading an image to represent the site that you want to link to to your Media Library, and then using a Text or Image widget to display that image in your sidebar linked to the site.

I upgraded so I could post ads from Amazon and Google adsense. Not sure what the advantages of the upgrade are.

  • Hi there – The upgrade gives you added functionality, such as the ability to edit your theme’s CSS and change fonts and colors, and the ability to upload audio and video.

You can read more about what’s included in the Premium upgrade here:
    http://store.wordpress.com/premium-upgrades/pro-bundle/

Just click the links in the sidebar to read more about each individual upgrade that is included.

Your site is still hosted here at WordPress.com, however, which doesn’t permit Google Adsense or other advertising, regardless of upgrade. We do have an advertising program, WordAds, which you can apply for here:
    http://wordads.co/

If you need other advertising, you’ll want to look into moving to a self-hosted WordPress site. You can read more about the differences here:

Let me know if you have any questions about any of this!

    Hi;
Thanks for your reply, I just transfered all my blogs from GoDAddy where I was getting about 12,000 hits a week, I’m now only getting a couple of hundred. I haven’t looked into self hosting, I assume it would be an added expense and I never really received much revenue from Google anyway. I am confused as to why my hit count fell so much. I went through and added tags to all my posts.

Which of the blogs on your WordPress.com user account are you referring to?

One thing I did notice is that all your sites are at their WordPress.com default URLs (example.wordpress.com) and that would definitely hint at the issue here. Google ranks your site based on it’s URL, and if that changes at all (say from example.com to example.wordpress.com) that would break the connection on Googles end.

As far as they are concerned, the address change means that you would be starting over again, in terms of ranking.

If you still own your old domain names, from when the site was self-hosted, then you could get this ranking back by using our Domain Mapping upgrade to replace the your WordPress.com address with a custom domain name.

Info and instructions can be found here, but I am happy to help as well: Add a Domain

    Hi:
I have it figured out. One question, I did one ,thefloridahoosier and it was free, I tried another and there was the $13 charge, is this correct?
    Thanks:
    Gary

  • Correct, on that site you were not charged an additional $13 as mapping is included in your WordPress.com Premium upgrade, as shown here.

This upgrade is per-site, however, and does not apply to all the sites under your user account. You will need to purchase domain mapping for those sites separately.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
