  • Hi

It’s not possible to add plugins to WordPress.com, but there are a few options to protect your email address.

First, you can use a contact form. I see you already have one on your website, which is a good start.

A second option is to use an email obfuscator link to hide the address.

You can use a service such as http://www.addressmunger.com

The page is a bit busy/complicated looking but here’s the steps you’ll need to take:

    1. Scroll down on the page until you get to the box with the radio buttons and boxes.
    2. Click the first option “Plain Email Link”
    3. Type your email address into that box
    4. Scroll to the bottom of that box and select the ASCII Munge (Simple) option
    5. Click the “Click to munge link”
    6. Copy the code that appears in the box to the right. This is your HTML link code to create an encoded version of your email address. You can paste this into the text editor section of your WordPress page or post or into a text widget if you’d like the address to appear in the sidebar.

Please note – do not use the JavaScript option, you must use the ASCII option for WordPress.com sites.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you – all went well until I tried to paste the code into the email box – maybe I used the wrong box but it wasn’t allowed – said it was an invalid email address. Apologies I am a complete beginner.

  • You can’t paste that code into the email settings box for your contact form. That code is only if you want to display your email address elsewhere on your site (like in the sidebar or in the footer).

When you set up your contact form, you’ll need to type in just your regular email address.
