adding an existing wordpress blog to my wordpress account

I have a functioning wordpress blog. I manage a couple of self-published wordpress blogs through that account. On my phone I can easily add another self-managed blog so I can post to it. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to add that blog to my account on my iMac!
    How is that done?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are your “self-published” blogs registered at WordPress.org? If so, I don’t believe you can add them to a WordPress.com account. Two separate entities WP.com vs. WP.org.

The blog I want to manage has its own domain name – on my iPhone I can add the blog to my WordPress account so I can post from the phone. Two sites I manage (also wordpress blogs with their own domain names – not xxx.wordpress.com) I can access from my WP account on my computer, and I wanted to add this third one but can’t seem to find a way to do that. I must have added these two some time in the past using the old WordPress. But with this current version there doesn’t seem to be any way to add self-administered sites – which I can do on my iPhone and iPad. That’s what I’m trying to do. I can get to the site directly via it’s own URL but I was wanting to access it from my account so I wouldn’t have to remember extra IDs and passwords.

The way to connect your self-hosted WordPress sites to your WordPress.com account is through Jetpack.

    http://jetpack.me/about/

Once you add Jetpack to your new site and sign in to WordPress.com from the Jetpack plugin page you should be all set.

Let me know if you run into any problems, and I’ll be happy to help you troubleshoot.

Jetpack is installed on the site I want to manage BUT while I know Jetpack is installed on my own website – it doesn’t show up in the Dashboard as an option! On the site I want to add it shows up just below the button for Dashboard. On my jmn111 (my account site) I have under Dashboard: Home (with a bunch of options) and the other things I expect: Posts, etc. But NO Jetpack. Yet I’m getting stats that sure look like Jetpack. How to I actually get to see Jetpack? I don’t seem to be able to log on to JetPack to do anything with it on the second site: Scotianaires.ca. None of this is making sense to me particularly since I’m able to do what I wish very easily on my iPhone!

There are a couple of things that may be in play here.

First, scotianairies.ca is connected to a different WordPress.com user account, so you won’t be able to manage it via JetPack with your jmn111 account.

Next, the iOS app is designed to work with self-hosted sites as well as sites hosted on WordPress.com. That’s why you can use it for all of your sites. The WordPress.com website that you access from the web browser on your Mac is only connected to your sites hosted on WordPress.com

On my jmn111 (my account site) I have under Dashboard: Home (with a bunch of options) and the other things I expect: Posts, etc. But NO Jetpack

This site is a WordPress.com hosted account so it doesn’t have JetPack. The features of the site look similar because JetPack actually ports several features (like Stats) that are native to WordPress.com to self-hosted WordPress sites.

Does that help clear things up a bit?
