Adding an existing wordpress site to different account

    I have two WordPress sites with different login details. I want to connect my other site (sitea.co.uk) to the admin of one I use most (siteb.net) so I can switch more easily between the two.

    When I try to add sitea.com using the ‘+ add a new site’ feature, I get the message ‘That’s a WordPress site, so you don’t need to connect it’, so I don’t know what to do.

    Hi there,

    Can you please tell us the Site A and Site B are Both WordPress.com site?

    Or one of them is the site Self-hosted?

    If your site is using the self-hosted version of WordPress then you need to install “Jetpack plugin” on your site in order to connect it to WordPress.com
    So once you install that plugin you will be able to see your site on “My Sites” section once you login your WordPress.com account.

    Can you tell us where are you adding?
    Is it a WordPress.com App on phone or desktop.

    Hi again,

    Just wanted to add more on this, If you are using “+ ADD NEW SITE” feature, then if it’s your Self-hosted site then select the option which says “Add an existing WordPress site with Jetpack” it will automatically install “Jetpack” plugin to your site and your site will be connected.

    In that option, you won’t be able to add or connect another WordPress.com site connected to the different account, in that case, you need to transfer the one site to another WordPress.com account in which you wish to see in “My Sites” so for more information on that please visit our support document here:

    Hi,

    Yes, they are both wordpress.com sites. On sitea.co.uk I pay for the domain then forward to a wordpress.com site. On siteb.net I use wordpress.com for the Name Servers and DNS.

    To ‘+add a new site’ I am using the desktop when I login to siteb.net

    Hi there,

    On sitea.co.uk I pay for the domain then forward to a wordpress.com site.

    It is considered as one site, not two different sites, so you won’t be able to add your “Site A”.

    Forwarding to another one is not a new site it’s just a domain which you’re forwarding to
    “Site B”.

    Hope you understand the difference between re-directing your site and the original site.
