Adding an external or custom widget

Hi – I’d like to add a widget from a third-party site? I have the code from the third party site to create the widget. How can I create a new widget that contains the code and runs the widget on my blog? Thank you.

Thanks for your prompt response. At the moment there are two widgets I’m considering. The code for both are below. The second codeset (“wolfram…”) is one of many widgets I’d like to integrate from Wolfram. Do I need to get approval from WordPress each and every time I’d like to integrate a third-party widget? Thanks for your time.

I’m sorry, but iframes are not part of the code allowed in WordPress.com, which is why they dissapear when you try to post them.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/Reminder: as raincoaster said, please use backticks (`) next time you want to show us code, to ensure that we are able to view the code and that it doesn’t become active (which is often the case with code containing links).

Wait. It’s POSSIBLE that the last part of your code, the part in square brackets, could work. Test it by putting it in a new Post, saving it as a Draft, and previewing. But the part between pointy brackets won’t work at all.

Hi, I am a newbie to blogging and wordpress. I really, really need to add a translate widget to my blog
I blog in English, but people in my country are more comfortable reading and speaking in Malay ( the national language) Mandarin & Tamil, a dialect from India ( I think there is no translate for this)
I know that there are some limits in widget installation for wordpress.com, but any way this can be installed?

@zurich – this is in the Widgets Forum – but when you post a new topic in a thread that is not really related to what you are asking about your question can be hidden and not seen by someone that can help you.
Best to have a good description for the topic so those who can help you know what you need without needing to read the thread – the generic “I need help” is the worst you can do – EVERYONE that posts a question here is looking for help. Your new Post with the good title is good.

Will put up a book on kindle / amazon.com in a few weeks. I see that several authors on wordpress blogs have posted their book cover and brief adin upper right of daily blog. How do I do the same with just my book cover? One blogger went off wordpress to have sponsors using face book. Can I do just my book thing without sponsors or ads?
