Adding an image border
-
Hello. I cant seem to figure out how to add a border to an image. It used to be possible before the new block editor was rolled out. I am using the Baskerville 2 theme. This should be a basic thing to be able to do and yet….
PS: if I could figure out how to switch from editing my page from Block back to Classic this would not be an issue
Thanks for any help

Hi, could you send a link to a post or page where you had added a border before, and let us know what method you were using? We’ll take a look and see if we can point you to an equivalent option in the block editor.

Thanks for getting back to me. So when I first started my blog in 2010 the classic editor was the way we edited pages and posts. If you clicked on an image on the page you could edit the photo. And you had an option to put a border around the image. The new block editor doesnt seem to gibve that option anywhere (at least I dont see it anywhere) If I look through my pages, some of them give me the option to edit using the old classic editor but a warning box comes up telling me that the formatting I used with the block editor may be changed.
Also if you look at the options in the block editor, when you click on an image, it gives you the option to change size and style but it does not give the option to put a border around an image like the classic editor did. -
Thanks for clarifying. There is not exactly a feature like that in the new block editor but it is something that developers are looking at adding from what I see here in our feature tracker
For now, it is possible to add borders around images via CSS code, but do do that you will need our WordPress.com Premium Plan or higher, as there is no CSS option for free sites.
Another option is to add a border to your image before you upload it to your site by using an image editing app on your computer or mobile device. If you do not have an app you can use, you may wish to use an online image editor instead. I see there are several when you search online
Hope this helps!
