Adding an image gallery

I have been suffering this problem of the gallery button not appearing:

‘From computer, From URL, Media Gallery’ tabs with no data underneath.I am sure that I used this last night successfully to create:

I just realized that this forum is only for WordPress hosted blogs. Sorry for posting here (although if you know the answer, that’d be great!!!). I have scoured the WordPress.org forums (which suck compared to these, by the way), but can’t find an answer there either. Anyway, I have re-posted my query there (at http://wordpress.org/support/topic/314181, in case anyone has the same problem, finds this thread, and wants to track down what will hopefully be the answer!).

Since my original post – the image upload functionality now seems to be much more stable, and predictable.
Now my only request would be if the gallerys could be displayed in a slightly more interesting manner.
Considering some of the interesting ways for displaying images these days, surely the different styles of gallery behaviour could be provided: e.g.:

@dojones1-Media is supposed to be getting another makeover sometime in the relatively nearer future. I am holding my breath in anticipation.

Image Insertion – Tonight I am attempting to insert a 1 gallery photo above a new post. I do the normal click on “Add An Image” icon, after I’ve put the cursor where I want the image to go, and up pops the Add An Image window, as it should. I click on “Gallery” where the image sits from my download, and that’s where I’m stuck. There’s no “Add” or “Download” button to transfer it to the post.
Whatz the problem here?

Kate in Hawaii, not sure of this will help but once you click the ‘add image’ then ‘show’ it appearsin a box below. You then click the size of the image you want displayed and beneath that in small text ‘insert in post’. The trick is seems is to put the cursor in your text where you want the image inserted. It also asks about ‘alignment’ but i cant see that making much different. I’m still struggling to get an image gallery linked. good luck. David
