Adding an image to a page changes the header

Every time I add an image to my about page (hskmurray.wordpress.com/about) the normal header gets replaced by the new image. I have tried several times in different ways to add a picture including adding from the patterns menu. It always changes the header, which I don’t want.

I have tried to find the answer in other posts and tried all of those suggestions including clearing my cache, cookies and making sure the image is smaller (200×400). Nothing works.

  • Good Morning –

I’m happy to take a closer look at what’s happening. Keep in mind that this may be how the theme is intended to work. Do you have the image that you want in the header space on the About page already in your media library? Let me know if it’s okay for our team to try things on our end and see what solutions are available. Thanks.

Thank you for responding! Yes, the image of a typewriter that is on my main page is the image I want on all of them. It is in my media library. And yes, please do try it on your end. Thanks again!

  • Hi there,

Fixed it for you! It was a setting in the theme’s content options. You can enable or disable it by going to Appearance > Customize > Content Options and uncheck the “Automatically use first image in post” under Featured Images.

That’s fantastic! I knew there had to be something I was missing. I just didn’t know where to look. Thank you for the help and the explanation!
