Adding Audio
-
I was trying to add an audio file to a blog page, but it won’t accept my audio files since it says it will only accept file with .jpg .jpeg etc. These are not in audio format. I want to attach a file that is .mp3. Can I do this? and if so, how?

I have been trying to do this too, and it won’t accept my audio. Do I have to install the podpress? I thought the all-in-one-seo setup was supposed to handle this.
My blog is at http://christianheadgame.wordpress.com

I just purchased a space upgrade to allow me to add my own mp3 audio to my blog. I add the file as I would a jpeg, as per the onscreen instructions, but all I see is the name of the file. No audio. Any suggestions?

Can you see the URL of the file? If yes, use it with the audio player shortcode:
[audio URL_HERE]
or
[audio=URL_HERE]
(Safer to paste that in the html post editor)
If you can’t see the URL, click “File URL” first.
(By the way, is it clear to you that the space upgrade is NOT needed for having mp3s play in your posts, just for uploading them in the blog instead of an outside host?)

Thanks, pan
Sill a bit confused about the upgrade thing. This is an audio I created myself and doesn’t exist anywhere else online. I have added audio from exists sites before with no problems.
This is what I have for my MP3 file:
[audio=http://rksbaseballbookshelf.wordpress.com/2009/01/27/the-great-experiment/pauldickson01091/]. I got the URL from “viewing” it via the Media library.

That URL won’t work. The URL you need to put in is:
[audio src="http://rksbaseballbookshelf.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/pauldickson01091.mp3" /]
Which I got from putting that URL in the browser bar and looking at the linked file in your post, then right-click, copy link location.
So try
[audio http://rksbaseballbookshelf.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/pauldickson01091.mp3%5D
or
[audio=http://rksbaseballbookshelf.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/pauldickson01091.mp3] -
And make sure the actual link is not live, like the one on my [audio http://rksbaseballbookshelf.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/pauldickson01091.mp3%5D post there. Use the Unlink icon to break the link, because if it’s live ie underlined and clickable, it will buffer instead of play.

I’m confused as well. I purchased the upgrade and have loaded many audio files into my library. How do I now move these to a specific page? Or set up a link from that page to my library??

Page editor > click Add Media > locate mp3 and get its URL > paste it as I explain in my second post above.
