adding authors

  i have someone i wish to add as an occasional author. however it seems the only way to do it is to grant them authority in some capacity over my blog. is there a way where i can set it up that i they would send me the material, i edit it, then i post it on my site in their name, without them having access?

  but id like their name to show up as the author and link to their site without granting them access to my admin

  You just copy and paste it into the editor (use the paste as plain text or paste from Word icons on the lower tool bar so that wordpress will strip out any unwanted code). Unless you want to set them up with author privileges (allow them access to the blog) then what you will have to do is create a byline at the top of the post in the post body and then link their name to their blog. Example: By Richard or perhaps Guest post by Richard .

  ok, i have no problem doing it that way, but wont my site automatically list me as the author in stats?

  is there a way to set up another author without associating the author with another blog? WP seems to want to create a blog for the new user. is it possible to have 2 users exclusivly associated with my blog?

  Yes, you will show up as the author as far as stats and such.

  People can sign up here for an account without creating a blog. Then you would be able to add that user as a contributor or author if you wished. If you want to review and edit their posts, then set them up as contributors. Contributors can edit their own posts but cannot publish them. They also cannot upload images. They would have the ability to view some of the backend stuff. I think they could see stats if they wished.

  One thing you could do is you set up another account (username only) using a different email address and then add that user to the blog and change the display name for that user to the name of the author and link it to their blog. Then you could post their stuff under that author name by simply choosing that author name in the author module in the post editor page.
