Adding Authors

I am making a wordpress for my class to use.
I would like it so each student has their own “author” account on the site.
I only want the students to be able to add posts and comments.Is there any way to set up these types of accounts?

Add each student as a new user then set them to “Author” standard feature.

Each student will have to sign up for a wordpress.COM account (they don’t need to get their own blog) and then give you the email addresses they used to set up those accounts. You then go to users > users in your dashboard and you can add theme there by email address and assign the author role to them.

Note: the “Sign-up for a blog” is the default choices – you need to look a bit for just add an account (on the same page) – also if one of your students does sign-up for just an account that name is reserved so they can add a blog with that name any time.

You can have your students forward you the activation mail they get from WordPress when they register – then you know when they have registered and you have the e-mail addresses you need to add them to your blog. (This is what I’ve done with my class blogs.)
