Adding Authors

I would like to add my students as authors to the blog but I don’t see the ‘People’ tab under My Sites.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hey @bgc2014,

I can certainly help you with that. You can find the People tab by following these instructions:

    1. Visit wordpress.com and make sure you’re signed in
    2. Click ‘My Sites’ on the top left side of the screen
    3. Click ‘Your site’ or ‘Switch site’ on the top left side of the screen
    4. Choose the site you want to add people in
    5. On the lower left sidebar you should side a ‘Configure’ section
    6. A little below that you should see ‘People’ and right next to it the word ‘Add’. Click on ‘Add’
    7. You should be able to invite people off their usernames or email address

You can read this article on how to Invite/Add people to your site.

    I hope this helps!

As, always let us know if you need anymore help or have more questions.

    Best,
    Bill

  • Hi there,

The account you’re using to post here, bgc2014, only has Editor permissions on the site you indicated. That is why you don’t see the People section in the dashboard. To invite new users to a site you need to be logged in as an account with Admin permissions.

    @billh93

Thanks for trying to help, but if someone says they don’t see the option on their screen simply telling them to click on that option doesn’t help. It’s not possible to click on an option that’s missing, no matter how thoroughly you explain how to get to it.

    Hey @kokkieh,

Thanks for the feedback. However, I’m not sure if you’re aware but I’m just a volunteer and have no administration rights to check if someone has permission to view/do certain things.

People who are relatively new to WordPress usually have trouble navigating their way through the CMS and finding certain options. So, I believe my answer would be relevant to the question in hand.

For future references please remember that I’m just a volunteer and have no internal tools to check certain things anyone whenever I’m in doubt I always make sure to tag the thread with ‘modlook’ so that I can get clarification from a WordPress staff.

  • I’m not saying you need access to internal tools. I’m saying the OP clearly stated they don’t see the menu item, so a more helpful response would have been to troubleshoot why they might not be seeing it instead of just telling them to click on something they already indicated they don’t see.
