Adding authors to your blog

Hi, I have a problem. How do I add an author to my blog? I would like someone to be able to write posts on my blog but in their own name as opposed to my own. I have tryed already but failed at ever corner turned. your help would be much appreciated.

What methods did you try? Have you tried the instructions in the Support documents?

Before a user can be added, they have to have a wordpress.COM account (don’t have to have a blog) and you need to use the admin email that is associated with their account.

Sorry to interrupt the discussion but my main probelm is of how to get more traffic to my blog!! I feel I’m the sole writer, reader, critic, admirer … etc

Not in this thread: Hijacking threads with unrelated issues is a big no-no in the forum.
Why don’t you try a forum search and read the almost two thousand answers to that question already posted in this forum?

I tryed all that but even though the person I wish to add has an account it still says that persons e-mail is invalid when I try to add them as an author. Contributor works but that is all.

It has to be the same email as they have associated with the account when they signed up.

Have the author go into their account and make sure that they have that email associated with the “admin” of the blog. There are two places to set the email, and the one that is associated with the admin side of things is at settings > general.

I am having the exact same problem. Since I know that the email they used to make the account is the same one I am using, I have this question: Is the email you sign up with not the email that is associated with the “admin” of the blog? I would think it’d be automatic, but maybe it isn’t…?

Yes, typically it would be the same, but the user can change that email address at anytime. Also with two different places to add email addresses (admin email under settings > general and at users > personal settings) things can get confused if the email address is changed in one place but not in the other.
All I can suggest is to contact staff and give them the email address that you are trying to add as an author and let them take a look.
